April Ross

April Ross, a beach volleyball star American is part of a select set of females who've had medals won in more than one Olympics. Alix Klineman is the newest Olympian and will join her in Tokyo. Ross hopes to win more than her initial Olympic medal. This may be the last chance she'll ever have at age 39. However, she's convinced that top prizes are within reach. If we do our top or play well I feel like we'll win the gold medal Ross said via NBC Boston. That's why I'm taking a little bit of luck also. Ross was born in California in Costa Mesa, California in 1982. She lived here along with her parents and sister. Ross's athletic endeavors continued at Newport Harbor High School where she was a part of a number of different sports. The prep sports she played included indoor volleyball as well as basketball as well as track and running. In the last sport she stood out. In her college profile, she played outside of the hitter middle blocker, and setter during her volleyball career in high school. To honor her achievements she was awarded the Gatorade Award for National Player in 1999. Her volleyball skills also earned her the Orange County Athlete of the Year award in the year 2000. Even though Ross and Klineman are a couple from 2017 onward, the former was already a big-time participant on the beaches long before their pairing. She has been able to win multiple events, one of which was with an iconic volleyball player. Jennifer Kessy was her partner during six years from 2007 to 2013. Also, she coached Klineman as well as herself. Together with Kessy Ross was an ace on the international stage, claiming the world championship in 2009. They won a Silver Medal in the 2012 Olympic Games held in London. The legendary Misty Maytreanor team and Kerri Jennings took home the gold. The fate of the matter was that Ross was Walsh Jennings' new partner as May-Treanor stepped down. They took home the bronze medal in beach volleyball at the Rio Olympics 2016. Ross started her college professional career playing for the Trojans of USC in her high school days. This was years before Ross hit the sand and turned professional. Her time at USC was quite impressive. She was an All-American as well as Pac-10 Freshman of the Year in 2000 as a young freshman. The Trojans had the chance to make it to the Final Four with her help. The Trojans were devastated by a tragic incident in her sophomore year. However, she was able to make it an All-American once more. In the two years she played for the Trojans they helped to win two consecutive titles. As an individual Ross established her status in the history books by winning the Honda Sports Award for 2003-04. The award is given to the best female college volleyball players across the United States. Ross who was an USC international relations student, was a volleyball star. Margie Ross was never able to see her daughter achieve the heights in beach volleyball. Ross's mother died of breast cancer when she was a sophomore at USC. She is devoted to her mother who died. Margie remains a constant source of inspiration to her, both in and out of the water.
